APQP and PPAP Training

Advanced Product Quality Planning

and Product Part Approval Process

In this two-day class, gain the skills to effectively implement an Advanced Product Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP) and Product Part Approval Process.  The activity-based course will teach you about tools and the linkage between process flow charts, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.  Through group activities and hands-on coaching, you and your team(s) learn the importance of thorough planning activities and develop a functional timing plan for production and delivery of a simulated product. Using simulations, groups work with customer engineers to develop a customer requirement and take it from prototype to a functionally acceptable and capable part. Realism is enhanced as teams develop flow charts, process instructions and control plans for the product and carry them through to PPAP submission.

APQP

Gaining a proficiency in APQP demonstrates an individual’s understanding of world class product quality planning and control plan guidelines.

This class takes you step-by-step through the common requirements and what you need to do to achieve compliance.  Avoid confusion or misinterpretation of requirements with a clear understanding of advanced product quality planning (APQP) and how it relates to industry standards.  Run step-by-step through APQP and learn about the common requirements and what you need to do to achieve compliance with the guidelines for product quality planning and the preparation of control plans.

This one-day class (first of two days) provides an overview of the tools, procedures and reporting requirements specified in the Advanced Product Quality Planning and Control Plan reference manual.  The benefits of the APQP or Control Plan would be a reduction in the complexity of products quality planning for the customers and organizations, and a means for organizations to easily communicate product quality planning requirements to suppliers.  GPG will cover the majority of situations that occur in early planning, design, or process analysis phases.

PPAP

Following APQP proficiency, your next step is an understanding of PPAP submittal requirements.  Whether you are familiar with the production part approval process (PPAP) requirement, need a refresher or are new to PPAP altogether, this (day two of two) overview course is for you.  Become versed on the procedures, reporting requirements and activities specified by the PPAP manual. Instruction covers the fourth edition manual, submission and specific requirements for part approval records/sample retention, and part-submission status. A review of forms in the PPAP manual is also included.

GPG’s overview course provides an excellent introduction or refresher to the procedures and requirements specified in the PPAP manual.  Ensure your suppliers understand the processes required to produce parts with consistent quality during an actual production run at production rates. PPAP is the industry standard for defining the production part approval process to ensure engineering design record and specification requirements are consistently met.

Through group activities and hands-on coaching,GPG’s training helps you put it all together. To gain the maximum benefit to your quality management system, you must understand how these two Core Tools work in tandem, by developing flow charts, process instructions, and control plans all the way to PPAP submission.
